This is a subspecies of the Mauremys mutica mutica that are native to Southern China.

The Southern Stone Turtle and the Northern Stone Turtle (Mauremys mutica) have different appearances.

Feature: 

• The head of the southern stone turtle is gray-black or brown, while the head of the northern stone turtle is light green.
• The southern stone turtle has obvious black spots on its plastron, while the northern stone turtle has less black spots.
• The southern stone turtle’s eyeballs have obvious black lines while the northern stone turtle does not.
• This species has a characteristic broad yellow stripe extending behind the eye and down the neck

Adult carapace size: 15 to 25 cm

Diet: Turtle pellets, insects, fish, shrimp, vegetables, tomatoes, fruits, etc.

Temp: 20 – 32 °C
