Marianne’s a beaut with big broad bright leaves, dark around the edges and luminous lime to white in the centre. Dieffenbachias are relatively easy plants to look after and will give you a lush jungly look to your lounge room. Not a plant for homes with curious pets and small children – the common name dumbcane comes from the plant sap’s numbing qualities if eaten – but otherwise harmless.
