Description

Geograpsus grayi, commonly known as the Little Nipper Crab, is a medium-sized, semi-terrestrial crab species belonging to the family Grapsidae. First described by H. Milne Edwards in 1853, this species is found across the Indo-West Pacific region, including areas from the Red Sea to the Cocos Islands and from Japan to the Kermadec Islands.

This crab typically inhabits rocky shorelines, coastal forests, and areas with abundant vegetation. It is known for its nocturnal behavior, emerging during the night and on rainy days to forage. During the day, it seeks refuge under rocks, in crevices, or beneath coconut husks to avoid desiccation.
